Garona operator Nuclenor will make repairs after discovery of an 18 millimeter hole in a vent line on a valve system inside the unit’s containment building, Spain’s Nuclear Safety Council, or CSN, said February 10. The CSN said Garona was shut February 9 for repairs to a pilot valve inside containment. The repair work led to the discovery of the hole in the vent line, which is used to clear air from the system. The vent line is intended to remain closed when the plant is operating, CSN said. Nuclenor will conduct inspections of vent lines on similar valves, CSN said.
